HD Fill in the Blanks

August 20, 2010

And now a word from our sponsors!

Here are a great bunch of fill in the blanks from Lauren at thelittlethingswedo! Join in the fun!

1.  My favorite current TV show is well anything Stargate will always be #1 in my heart, but right now I would have to go with Sanctuary! Amanda Tapping is BRILLIANT!

2.  The TV character I can relate to most is no one really. I have been thinking about this and saving this question for last and I don’t really relate to anyone on TV.

3.  My life is like (fill in with TV show and why)…. Old school Road Rules! I am always traveling by car with a bunch of people on some crazy adventure! While we usually have a plan you never know what will happen!

4.  My all time favorite TV show is Stargate SG-1! Come on?! There is nothing better than RDA, Space travel, and Archaeology!!!!

Apparently even the producers have spare time to write books! just kidding! 😉

5.  A TV show that is ridiculously stupid, but I continue to watch is Man Vs. Food. I love Adam! He is crazy but the places he eats at always look like a good time!

6.  My favorite TV couple is Zoe and Wash from Firefly, it’s one of the few times TV actually got marriage right!

Happily married and robbing people 🙂

7.  One TV episode I could watch over and over again is Window of Opportunity, Stargate SG-1 Season 4!!!!!

Col. O'Neill! What the hell are you doing?!

In the middle of my BACK SWING?!?!

Stay tuned for Hopewell Furnace Part 2! Same Tat-time, Same Tat-channel! 😉

After some deliberation I decided to break up the Hopewell Furnace weekend into two posts; this post will be the Chifa post (tomorrow will be St. Peters Village and everything else). As always dinner at Chifa was excellent! I enjoyed a round of drinks with the Souders before Kim and Nick arrived for our 7pm reservation and we had a great time chatting and catching up before my inevitable departure on Sunday. The Souders left around 6:30 and there was a bit of a lull between their departure and Kim and Nick’s arrival so I took advantage of the peasant Philadelphians sitting next to me at the bar and had a nice chat about the local dinning scene.

*rant warning*

Anyone who is not from Philly often complains at the rude and harsh behavior of the people and sprout off all sorts of negative opinions of Philadelphians. If this is you, you are an idiot and probably got that impression from the TOURISTS in the Independence Park area of the city. I hate the rude tourists and we have A LOT of them. So until you actually take the time to get to know the people of the city, shut up.

*end rant*

The couple I chatted with at the bar are regulars at Amada and other GRG restaurants but had never tried Chifa! The ordered the Chefs Tasting Menu, I hope they enjoyed their dinner as much as we did! Once Kim and Nick arrived we were seated early and the nice couple wished me luck on my Ohio move and good luck finding restaurants…which made me a little depressed, Cleveland isn’t exactly a foodie hot spot!

On to the Food!

Solterito Salad: bibb, edamame, queso fresco, tomato, plantain chips. I loved this salad, and after Kim and Nick had some I promptly devoured the rest!

Pork Belly Bao Buns: hoisin glaze, pickled daikon and carrot, togarashi mayo. These were the best Bao Buns EVER! Better than the duck, and the Buddakan buns.

Salt and Pepper Squid: coconut squid ink, fresh tomato. This was Kim’s dish, I tried it but it’s not something I would try again any time soon. I’m not a seafood person!

BBQ Ribs: char sui glaze, daikon, peanuts. These were fantastic as always! We ordered 2, one for nick and one for everyone else.

Chicken Wings: spicy garlic ginger sauce.

Pho: beef broth, brisket, kobe sirloin, crispy garlic, jalapenos, sprout. I enjoyed this with a lot of hoisin sauce!

Soup Dumplings: heritage pork, sesame, black vinegar. I was a little let down by these this time.

Chicharrones: crispy pork, hominy salad, spicy potatoes

Tea, Which was a little traumatic…it was bagged tea! 😦

It was a fantastic dinner with a couple of great friends! I will really miss Chifa, but I’m sure we will be back during one of my many visits to Philly!

Every year Meg, Kat, Kim, Nika and I get together and go down to Fenwick Island for girls beach weekend. Unfortunately this year Nika was unable to join us. While we all missed her dearly take a look at how Meg, Kat, Kim and I spent our weekend! As always it was a GREAT time!

Friday night, just hanging around the house.

Saturday Morning Brunch!

Saturday Morning Brunch!

Off to the beach for the rest of the afternoon!

Kim being Kim and floating off to sea!

My oasis of shade! no sunburn for me!

Meg gives girls beach weekend two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Mango Mikes in Bethany for dinner and parrots!

We spend sunday on the beach as well, then we all headed back home.

All and all a very relaxing weekend with some of my favorite people!

Birthday Blanks!

Thanks to Lauren at thelittlethingswedo and happy birthday to her!

1.  Birthdays are a non-event for me personally, but I love sending cards and presents to other people.

2.  My favorite birthday memory was in 2007 for my 25th birthday I bought myself a new car and I love it!!

3.  A birthday tradition I (or my family) has is I don’t have a birthday tradition, typically if I want to do something for my birthday I have to plan it myself and I don’t really do the same thing twice.  However, I think the closes thing would be how my brother and I exchange birthday gifts. We go to Best Buy, the birthday person shops for $50 worth of stuff and gives it to the other person to buy.  At the door the birthday person carries the bag!

4.  If I had to choose one birthday meal to eat for the rest of my birthdays hence forward, I would choose the duck (see two posts ago) from Buddakan, it was quite possibly the most amazing thing I have  ever consumed! Followed by the chocolate bento box of course!

5.  My birthday is on November 9th.

6.  If I could take a birthday trip I would go to Tokyo  or London, actually it doesn’t have to be my birthday, I really just want to go there!

7.  The best gift I’ve ever received for my birthday was my 2008 Black Honda Civic I bought for myself for my 25th birthday.  Although, I came close to topping it the next year by attending a Stargate Convention where I met actor Jason Momoa.

Jason Momoa as Ronon Dex from Stargate Atlantis

Tonight I’m meeting Kim and Nick for dinner a Chifa and then off to enjoy the rest of Hopewell Furnace Adventure Weekend!

Fly Eagles Fly, on the road to victory!

Is anyone else as excited for football season as I am? It’s not like my beloved Philadelphia Eagles are expecting to make a superbowl run but the more I read up on camps and pre-season games (and watching a bit of Flight Night) the more I look forward to the season! The only negative is that by moving to Ohio I will not be able to watch every game on TV. I guess that means we are going to a bar with many, many tv’s to make sure we can watch it!

My last couple of weeks at work will be quiet and transitional for the department. But before I leave the ladies in my office took me out for a lovely bon voyage dinner at El Vez! Of course it’s another STARR restaurant and of course I picked it out. Since it was just lunch we had the “short” version of the menu, but still a fantastic selection of modern Mexican! We worked our way through the drink menu, the lunch menu and the dessert menu; here is a little bit of what I had:

Pomegranate Margaritas!

"Bazooka" Limon Guacamole; goat cheese, chile flake, pisachio, roasted tomato. It was so good we ordered another!

El Vez Enchiladas Mixtas; shrimp enchilada, classic red chile and chicken enchilada, and black bean enchilada. Two of my co-workers enjoyed this dish, and by enjoyed I mean devoured!

El Vez Burger (Back) and the Mexican Chopped Salad with Chicken (Front).

My delicious Vaca Frita Burrito; brasied short rib, avacado, white rice, black beans and jalapenos. This was great, and I saved the second have for lunch the next day!

Warm Mexican Chocolate Cake; madagascar vanilla creme anglaise, vanilla ice cream and fresh berries.

Tres Leches Cake; fruit ceviche, hazelnut salt

Churros; dark and mexican chocolate sauce

We cannot forget the fantastic Mexican decor!

Lamp Shades

Tomorrow the OYAA Triumvirate will be enjoying dinner at Chifa!
