I love how absolutely mind boggling “life, the universe, everything” is. It is 100% insane. And so is everyone in it! But that is what makes it all so fascinating! Being in Philadelphia I get the pleasure of seeing many different sides of the insanity, and for that I will be forever grateful, especially after I move to Ohio. Just thought I would share that little tidbit.

By the way, on my way to the train station this morning I noticed on one of the buildings that the temp was 80F!! It was 7:50am! And it was already 80F, and I was not in the city, I was in Haddonfield! I’m horrified to think of the temp now!

Aki was fantastic last night! It was crazy in there though, apparently Wednesday night is some sort of city wide Happy Hour thing. It was crazy but cocktails were $5 and appetizers were ½ off. Nothing like $5 drinks to make a great night! But the food was excellent. Pictures coming soon!

A little list of needs:

5. About 16 more paid-time-off hours for work. I’m short one day for my brother wedding (8 hours) and I could really use just one day for myself (the other 8 hours).

4. The temperature to stay at 60 F. Max…

3. A 15 hour coma

2. All of the books I do not own on my “to read” list on Goodreads and time to read them

1. More Mochi Green Tea Ice Cream!!!!!!!

Long overdue post and photos from Square on Square with Alex and Katya! Let me say this…The day of this foodie adventure was a great food day!!

Alex and Kat were running late, so I did what any normal person would do! Wine and Cheese at TRIA! I didn’t take any photos but I did enjoy their Brebisrousse D’Argental French Sheep’s cheese (Funky orange sheep’s milk brie oozes creaminess and a fruity finish) and the Torrontes “La Linda,” Bodega Luigi Bosca, ’09 (Salta, Argentina), (Exotic Argentine beauty with tropical notes of lychee, orange blossom and jasmine). I have never killed time in a better place!!

An interesting blog note: as I was pulling the cheese and wine descriptions from their online menu (tria) I noticed that all of their menu descriptions sound like lines from a trashy romance novel. Go, check it out!

Square on Square!

Once Alex and Kat were on the subway heading into town I strolled over to Square on Square and reserved a table for us by the window. Interesting view…we were right next to a bar with very interesting happy hour clientele! It was very entertaining people watching. Being a Friday evening I can see how people would want to cut loose, on the other hand, I have never dined on this block so  maybe this was a typical night!

Kat and Alex Arrive! Exhausted after packing up Katya's dorm room!

Now on to the food! We each started with a bowl of the most amazing wonton soup EVER. The soup was fantastic and lived up to the hype. Alex talked up this place a lot, and by talked up I mean he could not stop saying amazing things about it for days, weeks, or however long it took for us to finally go! This was some of best Chinese food I have ever had and worth the wait!

Alex had the General’s Spicy Chicken, with a side of crazy red pepper sauce. He devoured it!

I had the Mango Chicken

Kat had the Peking Duck

After dinner (and some serious walking) we decided to stop in at Max Brenners for dessert! I thought Alex was going to die just looking at the menu! Kat and I were game for anything so we picked out a couple of things for the table, and a lot of water.

Kat and I ordered a couple of Frozen Chocolate Frappes! The Cookieshake (white chocolate cream and Oreo cookies) and the Pure Chocolate Truffle Granita with Dark Chocolate

Hazelnut Cream Banana Toffee Crepe (caramel ice cream, chocolate crunchy wafer balls, milk chocolate truffle)

Crazy chocolate with Pop Rocks and Gummy Bears!

Tonight! Aki Japanese Fusion Restaurant and Sake Bar!

Wow…I have not posted an actual entry in a very very long time! Here is a little update of my two recent to Chef Jose Garces’ restaurants Chifa and Amada! Both were fantastic! Our Chifa experience was quite possibly one of the best meals to date! Unfortunately my Amada experience was confined to soup, croquettes, and many glasses of sangria, so we did not have the chance to sample their extensive menu (and it looked amazing!). Not that I am complaining…the sangria was fantastic!

Soup Dumplings, heritage port, sesame, black vinegar.

Lobster Bowl, flat white noodle, rocoto cream, lobster, bacon, parmesan, and green peas. Aaron loved this dish! I did not partake.

Pho, beef broth, brisket, kobe sirloin, crispy garlic, jalapeno, sprouts. I burned my mouth on this...many times as I could not stop eating it!

Chifa Chicken, soy consomme, bok choy, and almonds. The chicken was amazing! Very tender with a nice crispy skin. I then stuffed my face with delicious soy consomme soaked bok choy!

Fruit "Escabeche", melon and asian pear, cantaloupe sorbet, vanilla foam, and cashew crumbs. Katies dessert.

Captain Crunch Donuts, strawberry jam, cereal milk custard. Aarons Dessert

Turron De Chocolate, dulce de leche ganache, cocoa nib ice cream, corn-nut meringue. My dessert. I'm going to be honest, I LOVED the corn-nuts with this dish!

In addition to the above deliciousness, we also enjoyed Duck Bao Buns, Chaufa (stir fried rice, chorizo, mango edamame, and scallops) and fabulous drinks from their wonderful bar.

Amada: Katie met me for drinks after the lab a few weeks ago, we also enjoyed these little tasties!

Croquetas De Jamon; Ham Croquettes, which seemed to be a very popular dish since everyone seated around us ordered the same thing!

Katie had the Gazpacho Amarillo, crab salad and avocado ice cream.

I had a delicious pumpkin soup with zucchini, cheese and pine nuts. It is no longer on the menu, I think they are planning on making is a seasonal soup for the fall and winter with the crab gazpacho in the spring and summer. I cannot load the picture for some reason but I loved it.

In Other News...

Getting my life together has been insane. Work is crazy busy; our new house staff orientation is coming up in June and July 1 marks the new academic year. I barely have time to take a lunch break without coming back to tons of voicemail and the ever waiting excel spreadsheets!

CAMP! Speaking of spreadsheets, I have been working on registration for camp, the teen program schedule (which really doesn’t require much work), and the new camper/counselor directory. Then there are the e-mails, phone calls, and text messages…oh and facebook messages! By the way, if you are still waiting for a response…I have not forgotten you! I will try and get to you when I have a moment.

SCHOOL! I spent most of the week getting my financial aid and contact information updated with Kent. I now need to get in touch with the department and update my information with them directly. Oh and register for class and move 8 hours west….no problem!

So instead I will do this! ha! Although I did plan out the entire cooking class during my lunch hour… and assembled a mighty IKEA shopping list! So slightly productive!

1.  The very best thing about the summer is St. Tikhon’s Summer Camp! Because I hate summer and I’m pretty sure that is the only thing that makes it suck a little less, and girl’s beach weekend of course.

2.  My first crush ever was Christopher Robin from Winnie the Pooh! Be honest people, who wouldn’t have a crush on the guy who got to hang out with TIGGER!

3.  This may sound really silly but Indian Jones really did inspire me to study Archaeology back in the day. Then something strange happened and I went to music school, but now that I am going back to school for Archaeology I feel like everything realigned and is the way it should be.

4.  I squeeze my toothpaste from the very very end to make sure I don’t miss a bit!

5.  My absolute favorite “comfort food” is baked pierogi with old bay sprinkled on top!

6.  A random fact about me is that I really like color! I love to look at colorful things in pictures, magazines, makeup, you name it I love it. I do not, however, plan on wearing it or decorating with it any time soon.

7.  The one piece of technology that truly makes my life better and I couldn’t live without is BLACKBERRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I love it my whole life is keyed into it! Although the interesting thing is that I still use a fabulous paper day planner, I will never give that up.

Tase Him? Absolutely!

For all of you fellow sports fans out there who have noticed the stupidity of the Philadelphia Phillies fans that have been running around the outfield lately I thought I would share my little opinion on the matter. Take them out, arrest them, and charge them with a laundry list of terrible things that will haunt them for the rest of their pathetic lives.

Page 2

Monday night a stupid 17-year-old jumped out on to the field and ran around like the nut job he is, only to get tasered by the security guard and hauled off the field. There are now many questions on the necessary use of force on this man; after watching the video, he eluded security officials,  so tasered the guy.

He deserved it. Talk about morons.
