All shiny and new!!!

April 30, 2009

So this is the beginning of what I hope will be a daily blog. It’s a place where I hope to update you on current and future projects, my various adventures in Philadelphia and beyond, as well as a little about me and my life.

So a little intro about me and what I do:

I have been taking non-matriculated graduate courses at Temple University for the past three semesters in the Anthropology department. I love it! It’s a bit of a switch from music (I have a Bachelors in Music) but I think it suits me. I want to focus in the subfield of Archaeology and I am currently starting the application process for graduate programs in the area, and by area I mean Northeast US.

I am just finishing up my third (and final) course at Temple in Linguistic Anthropology. It was a good time and it’s a little bittersweet finishing the course since it’s the last class I will take at Temple for the time being but I am relieved to be finished. Linguistics is not really my cup of tea.

For the past two years I have been working at Hahnemann University Hospital in the Graduate Medical Education Office as their Administrative Assistant. It’s not glamorous but I like my job and the people I work with. It pays the bills, allows me to save money for grad school, and I am learning a lot about dealing with everyday “life” issues that they dont prepare you for as an undergrad.

Current and Future Projects

I am a founding member of the TAC, the Teen Activities Committee along with Kimberly Metz and Nicholas Macura. We also work with my brother John and several other people depending on the project, the size of the project, and it’s location. Our primary purpose is to bring Orthodox teenagers together to learn about the Orthodox faith and traditions, give them an opportunity to give back to their church through service projects, and to just get together and have a good time with their church family (which at the end of the day seems to be the bulk of it!). It’s always a fiesta! That is a TAC Guarantee!!!!!

I think that is more than enough information about yours truly for one day! Now on to another segment that I would like to have everyday!

Interesting Stuff of the Day:

What I am reading:

I recently finished The Eight by Katherine Neville, it was very enjoyable but it felt like the end was a bit rushed for my taste. It seemed like the first half was a well orchestrated series of events and the all of a sudden it’s a frantic fast forward finish (F4= not perfect). But it was pretty good and I give it 4 out of 5.

Website of the day:

It’s lots of fun and I enjoy reading it in the morning with my coffee!
